Ranger 29, keel flexing?

Hello,

I had a Ranger 29 -that I'm hoping to purchase- hauled out today.

The boat is in good shape, there is no stress mark on the keel and no delamination,

However when the surveyor shook the bottom of the keel (firmly not just pushing his finger on it) the keel flexed to some extent. The boat has an encapsulated fin keel.

He is currently investigating if that's an problem or if that is normal for this boat.

Does anyone know if this boat is dying or if this is normal for this boat

Doesn't sound normal for any encapsulated keel to me. run away screaming foul!

The keel area should be the thickest and strongest part of the hull. There should be no flexing. If it flexes a little it will eventually flex more.
