AB Lammina 9.5

Has anyone used this aluminum bottom RIB and give their opinion? I think this is the RIB I would like to purchase because of it's size, aluminum bottom, and hp rating. I already have a Yamaha 15hp 2-stroke, just need a RIB to attach it to. An AB dealer said there are not many 9.5 AL's in the US, does anyone know where to purchase one?

I am also interested in hearing feedback on these boats. I am looking at getting the 10.5 RIB. A neighbor in my marina has an older one that looks like it has been through alot but is still in pretty good shape. The paint is all flaking off of the aluminum hull, but paint just doesn't stick to aluminum very well. I'm surprised that they paint them at all, I would think that bare aluminum would do just fine. I took it out for a test drive and it seems to handle ok, but the motor he has on it is an older 15hp 4 stroke which is huge and really weighs down the transom, a 2 stroke would be much better. As far as resellers, I know that there is one in Washington state that supposedly helped AB develop the Lammina line. I have found others online as well, I guess it just depends on geography and price. I am trying to decide between the AB, a Walker Bay Genesis, and one of the fiberglass RIBs. The fiberglass ones tend to be pretty heavy compared to the other two.

I would recommend getting a fiberglass hulled RIB, rather than an aluminum one. Fiberglass is far easier to repair, especially in remote regions, since it is fairly simple to carry fiberglass repair supplies with you that it is to carry aluminum repair supplies.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.
