Sunforce trickle charger

I am thinking of getting a Sunforce trickle charger to maintain my batteries while I am away from the boat. The boat is on a mooring so there is no consistant orientation to the sun. I'm thinking of the 12v. 5w model. I would secure it to the deck when I'm gone for a while and stow it below while underway. Has anyone done this kind of setup? Any advice?

with your 30' boat and depending on your batteries, the 5 w may be of little use...you would be better off spring for a 85 watt rail mounted panel and mppt controller...

all the best...
