E 30 Engine Hatch

I found it impossible to service the
MD II diesel in the 1967 Ericson 30
I recently purchased. Access was through
the Port Lazzerett or from the front only. It wasen''t easy but I just finished cutting out part of the cockpit floor and installing an engine hatch. If anyone out there has a similar problem to solve I will share my experience.

That is a tough way to go as the cockpit sole on many boats is a part of the structural system stiffening the aft end of the boat. Bold move!
