Shaft Coupler Key

Should there be any play in the key? Had a new shaft and coupling installed this off season. The key moves about 1/8" front to back. It won't come out, but there is movement.

The key shouldn't move. It should fit snug. Key could be undersized or worn (did they put the old one back in?) or the shaft keyway worn.

Thanks Jim,

Everything is new (shaft, coupling and key). Maybe it is the wrong size. I'll be talking to the yard today about it.

I don't believe I've ever seen a round key way either.
