Most likely a hand or foot pump kind of thing. I can definitely recommend from experience to make the change to an electric pump as it's very difficult to do anything with just one hand (being that one hand has to always pump). Although if it's a foot pump then that's great. For such a small boat I don't think it would be worth it to install a pressurized system.
Anyways, it's all very simple, there is usually a water tank or bladder to hold the water, an electric pump with a switch at the faucet or a hand or foot pump and of course the faucet itself. Buying a faucet with a switch in it isn't much, pumps are cheap too I think, then you just have to plumb it and hook up the electricity. Good project I think.
