Q: Standing rig wire size

I just purchased an Ensenada 20, a 20' trailer boat. It has 1/8" standing rigging, which in my eyes looks like sewing thread. My previous 20' boat had a lot stronger rig. Since this boat appears to have been altered substantially through the years, I am wondering if this dimension really is the original. Does anyone have any knowledge either on this boat or about comparable boats?

1/8" does not seem too small for a 20 footer. I wouldn't see the harm in going up to 5/32" though.

I could not find the actual specs, but here is some interesting stuff.

I have a Lyle Hess design too. I think he was a genius.
