need sitex sp 80 advice

I have a gulfstar50 with a hydraulic actuator on the quadrant controlled by a Sitex SP 80. The new unit has a hundreds of control setting possibilities. I currently use only the fast response mode which works great in moderate seas. I am worried that during the higher stress of larger seas that the 50% duty cycle of the hydraulic unit will be exceeded. Does anyone have experience with the SP 80 and have you found a setting in the "slow" mode that will steer the boat?
