Talking Sometimes you just get lucky! used sails

And somethings just can't be done over the internet! I made a spur of the moment decision and took a ride to Bacon Sails. in Annapolis MD on Tuesday. I've been there a more then a few times over the years and this trip was made with the decision "I'm coming back with a head and main sail no matter what!"

My head sail needs are luff 39.5' and foot 13' - 22' and main is 33.3' and 10.75' My original main ripped last yr. A friend of the YC that is a broker sold me a C28 full batten main that got me by but I never liked it. I've been using the working jib on my boat, which has a Yankee cut and could almost be a storm sail. The combination just didn't work in light air.

Well I came back with a main from a C &C 29, 35.25' x 10' The boom to sheave distance is 35'3" near perfect! (The foot is about 10" short.) Also came away with a genny, 38.5' luff and 20' foot. Near perfect again, just makes it over the bow pulpit rail! We took her out for a test run in light air last night, about 3mph and wind was moving the boat! Yee Haw! (oops that wasn't very lady like ) Now if the damn heat abates a little I can sail this summer!

Sounds like a good find

A few weeks back you may recall my "I Hate Wind" post. As a result of that I went looking for a smaller headsail for my boat. Posted a request on the Pearson Yahoo groups email list and bang, some one had a used 95% headsail, the same boat I have except his was a std rig and my was a tall rig. An the kicker was the sail was 15 minutes from where my boat was moored and very very short money.

We used it all the time now as High Wind sail. Sometimes you get lucky.

DrB,

What Pearson Yahoo Group is that? I own a Pearson 10M and am located in the SF Bay area. Regards.
