What's the best way to ship a 200 pound anchor - WI to NY?

I'm looking to ship an anchor from Madison, Wisconsin to Long Island, NY. Does anyone know of the best cheap way to do that?

I heard of some shipping service where people bid on the shipping job. Maybe that or finding someone who is already making the trip. Any ideas?

Regards,
Brad

Can you crate it and get it to a local freight company? If you are willing to pick it up at their warehouse at your end, it shouldn't be that expensive. Door to door is expensive.

It has to go via truck freight. Try asking for bids on UShip.com.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Put it on a pallet; strap it down and send it via truck freight. Any of the major freight companies (Viking, Yellow, etc) should be able to quote you for a pallet with a 200 lb object on it.

I like Sailingdog's idea. I got a bid on uship to ship a mast from a 27' catalina from north texas to denver for 200 bucks. a lot of otr drivers are going one way empty and are willing to pick up a load for a few extra bucks. however i dont think the uship enterprise offers any guarantees....

good luck
