Rebedding Chainplates C&C 30

Getting ready to rebed my chainplates on my C&C30 MK1 Any advice would be helpful.

Rob, it''s not clear to me what you mean by ''rebed''. Are you merely resealing the exit areas at the deck or hull...or are you/have you pulled the plates for inspection? I''d encourage the latter given the age of your boat, assuming it has not been done in a few years, as the part of the plate most prone to corrosion will be the part hidden from any possible view.

When I recently did this, I found a variety of opinion about what bedding compound to use. In the end I chose 3M''s 5200 and dealt with its tendency to be damaged by UV by painting the chainplate/bedding intersection with several coats of one-part polyurethane. With (hopefully careful) masking, it is not noticeable or makes the bedded area look neat and nicely finished.

Thanks for the input jack. I am considering 4200 or boatlife. I have used 5200 and am happy with the results but due to the age of my boat and possibly needing to work in this area again at a later date I don''t think I want the bedding to be permanent. I will be removing the deck plates for inspection and possibly the chainplate itself it the deck is soft under the plate.
