Looking for Cat 30 TR mast

Our boat, ENYA, an '83 Cat 30 TR/FK/BS was hit by the May 10th tornado in Norman, Oklahoma and the mast, rigging, bimini, dodger, many stanchions, etc. were destroyed. Our marina lost around 300 boats that day, and fortunately no one was hurt or killed from the F4 tornado that struck at 5:30 that evening. The Thunderbird Sailing Club members lost over 20 keelboats.

Anyway, we are considering rebuilding if we can find a good used mast, rigging, etc...if anyone has access to a TR mast for a Cat 30, please let me know. The hull, engine, a/c, ext are in good shape sans a few scratches here and there.....

Didn't you have insurance. Surely, if you had insurance, they would cover the loss of a mast due to a TORNADO... falls under weather any way you look at it..and not a named storm exclusion either.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Sailingdog, Of course we had insurance, and I'm not asking for a free mast, just didn't want to pay $10K for a new one. I couldn't be more pleased with the way our insurance company handled the claim...Unfortunately, many of the boat owners did not have insurance :+(

If you have not already, try posting your request on the International Catalina 30 Owner's Association forum. Best of luck getting your repairs done successfully!! - r

I guess a lot depends on your insurance policy. Mine would cover the new mast minus my deductible... Buying a used mast can be opening a can of worms that isn't worth it... at least with a brand new mast, you'd have a warranty and know what the actual situation was.

mitiempo will become famous soon enough
If you are only paying your deductible, try Catalina themselves for a new mast. The deductible would be the same whatever the cost of the mast.
