sealing threads on fuel filter

Installing a new filter unit - what do you seal the threads with that is gasoline resistant? Yellow teflon tape?

No teflon tape. Just smear the gasket with oil or vaseline.

No gasket on this application - just pipe thread into (and out of) a housing.

While tapes will seal they have and issue with bits of tape getting down stream were it should not be

There are a number of items made by Gasoila ,Permatex ,ect that will seal without the bits problem

Form-A-Gasket® No. 3 Sealant is for sealing hoses on gasoline tanks

This should not happen if the tape is applied properly. Whatever the use is the tape should never be wrapped over the first thread and no more than 3 wraps.

For my own use I use tape on fuel fittings if necessary. Teflont tape by the way is not a technically a sealant, it is a lubricant. Also there is no difference in the formulation of the tape due to it's color.

Sorry, I was thinking of the filter element itself.

I'd use this:

Well

At least on land HERE there is yellow color tape gas service tape that is required to meet code if you chose to use tape

While i have no issue with teflon tape it is offen used wrong and ends up causing needle and seat problems on gas motors
