Pearson 26 Jib sheet lead.

A boat I sail on has the following setup. I don't like that when close hauled the sheet bends around the stanchion. Is moving turning block back the only option?

This seems too obvious, so there must be something I'm not seeing, but here goes. Why not lead the sheet over the lifeline?

Why is the sheet outside the stantion to begin with? You could add lead car tracks but thats a slightly different issue. On a beat, most boats trim the jim so the foot is right to, or close to, the chain plates of the shroudes.

Minnewaska will become famous soon enough
Did the boat have a different jib/genny before this one, with a longer/shorter foot? Seems like it would be a good idea to move the block, but genny tracks would make it more flexible for any future change.

For this sail, it appears that you should simply lead the sheet back in front of the stantion,

For a Genoa, it appears that you already have a genoa track with an adjustable car aft on the molded toe rail. You just need to attach a fair lead to it.

Definitely move the sheet inside the lifelines. It looks like this is the arrangement for the working jib, with a track for a genny on the toerail. A better arrangement would be an inboard track that could be used for all headsails. Would avoid having to move the sheets when changing sails.

Hi David,

I suggested in the other post, to lead the jib sheet back in front of the stantion. ( for this sail)

If you have a larger sail, you would need to attach a fairlead to the genoa track that you have on your toerail already. You would not use this fairlead with the genoa....

Looking at the way the sheet leads back outboard after passing through the deck block, i wonder why the genny block isn't all the way forward on the track, and the sheet run through there?

I was thinking in front of the stantion but still under the lifeline.
But over might work...

In either case you may have to go forward and skirt the jib over the forward most stantion when the sail is in tight.
