hand held brass fog horn

Interest in a hand held brass fog horn to replace my gas hand held horn.
Are the brass units legal or just for cosmetic?
What does the brass horn sound like, sick goose, bugle?

I was told the bike pump style works great, I like the uniqeness of the brass old style type fog horn just to be a little different when signaling to enter the channel at our marina.
Heres the link to see what I am refering to:

Some of those type of horns sound like a "real horn." Guess you really need to be able to test them so e-bay adds some risk to the purchase. I believe that the USCG requirement is the ability to sound a 4 second blast that is audible for 1/2 mile.

Sabreman will become famous soon enough
I have the horn that you show. Mine is chrome vice brass, but otherwise the same. It sounds like a loud duck. We use it in place of a compressed air horn which sounds to me like a loud duck on meth.

To be honest, it's been a long time since we needed a horn to open a bridge or for fog (the Chesapeake rarely gets fog). But I like the failsafe aspect of the horn and would but it again in a heartbeat.
