stainless rust inhibitor

what do you use to inhibit rust from developing on knives etc? ive been using 3 in 1 oil, but it still is a constant battle.... hope you get on the water and have a great weekend.

Is it a knife you eat from?

Otherwise...Boeshield is designed to prevent rust. CRC and other companies make similar products. Oil isn't as long lasting. And any kind of wax will do. If the rust is a BIG problem, it could be the wrong alloy to use on a boat.

If the other stuff that's rusting is your railings, etc? That's rust from embedded non-stainless steel, splintering off the tools and dies used to form it. To get rid of that you need to passivate the stainless, with a paste or acid dip. Or, again, wax and polish to slow down the recurrence.
