Why can''''t I find a 6v bulb for my Guest anchor light?

I have looked far and wide and the only vendor I can find who sells a replacement bulb for a "Guest" anchor light (the one you hoist up the mast for anchoring) is Boatfix.com, and they are around $9 each!!! I''m talking about a tiny little flashlight bulb powered by an ordinary 6 volt battery. The local hardware store had a similar one ($1)which works but I don''t know if it is bright enough to comply with related laws. All the local marine stores say "sure we have them", and then come back to the phone and tell me they don''t have them and can''t even order them. Please help! Thanks much

I''ve no doubt that the one at the hardware store will do the job in bristol fashion. Check Radio Shack too. Theirs may not be "marine grade" but if you coat it down with petroleum jelly, it should hold up just as well.

I got one from the hardware store and it seems to work fine, but having never seen the original bulb burn before, I am afraid it''s not bright enough. Maybe I''m over analyzing.....sheesh

Replacement bulb for Guest 6-V Anchor Light

Just my 2-cents worth. By coincidence I just listed a light on eBay and looking at the bulb it is about one-inch or more in length above the brass base. This so that the fresnel lens on the light will show brighter and in all directions. A normal 6-volt flashlight bulb will be less than adequate but could suffice in an emergency.
