Bedding compound for gudgeons

Preparing to install J24 rudder hardware (on something other than a J24) and I am contemplating bedding compounds. There are FOUR gudgeons or straps that must remain perfectly aligned - else the pintles will bind. In order to compensate for an unevenness in the transom I'm going to bed the gudgeons. The bedding compound must remain hard after it dries or cures. So far, the only product I know of is Marine-Tex.

Any other suggestions would be appreicated!
