Smile Looking for a Bimini Top for the Tylercraft 26...

Hi all!

As I get closer to the date of the transit from Long Island, NY to Maine, I thought I'd ask around about the possibility of installing a Bimini top. I am not at the boat (still in the Gulf of Mexico) so I can't get exact measurements.

In the meantime, wanted to throw a question out here about who makes reasonably-priced tops for sailboats. Any experience with them?

Thanks

PS,
The trip is still on, only postponed by a few weeks due to work.

You could try Overton's, who sells a line of biminis, but you'd really need some measurements to find one that would fit well.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

I used boatcoversdirect.com for my Catalina 22, they have a nice product. You will need to take measurements to ensure a proper fit though.

There are a number of manufacturers of off-the-shelf biminis. Taylor is probably the most widely sold. You definitely need boat measurements to see what fits. Bimini measurements are length, width and height. Llimited sizes of length (6 foot most common) and height (30". 36", and 42" most common), but wider range in width. Standard frames are aluminum with plastic fittings. Upgrading to stainless fittings (and in a few cases stainless tubing) is possible. I have had good luck with one from Overton's and also with a Taylor.

Ahhh,
advice I was afraid of. But you guys are 100% correct...I DO need to get the measurements.
Doggone it. I am still stuck on my job done here in the Gulf of Mexico and I think I won't be able to order the top in time for the beginning of my transit. oh well, like someone said on another, related thread, I may just invest in some floppy hats for the time being.

I've been looking at Overton's and will look up the other leads to get an idea. may, I can order it and have it shipped a ways ahead of me to pick up enroute.

Thanks again for taking the time to drop a line.

Hello astarte58

I sure do come on here and I still need a bimini top as well. Let's see some photos of YOUR T26. :-)

Where are you located?
