On the mast, what is the "D2 and V2 attachment point"?

I recently got a rigging inspection. The rig checked out ok, with the exception of a missing washer that was really important to have in place. (I took care of it.)

On of the things on the survey I don't understand. Can anyone shed some light on this?

Clean V2 and D2 spreader attachment fittings (polish and inspect)

What does that mean?

It's basicly the outboard end of the upper spreader. The diagonals go from the chain plate to the mast or the spreader tip to the mast. The verticals go from the chainplate to the spreader tip and the spreader tip to spreader tip.

The D1s could also be called lowers.
The V1 would be the lower piece of the uppers or cap shrouds on a discontinuous rig.
