need advice port hole replacement

I have a 1973 35ft C&C that the portholes leak. I took one of the windows out this weekend and am going to have a local glass shop cut a replacement window to for it. The question i have is that on the back of the old window is some sort of sticky double sided plastic gasket and on the outside is a plastic gasket that goes in between the glass and the aluminum frame. Any ideas where to find replacement gaskets for these old windows or should i just use life seal to put them in place?

Butyl tape might work.

What are you having the windows made out of? I wouldn't use glass, even safety glass. Lexan or plexiglass is most commonly used.

I'd use either butyl or Dow 795 structural silicone.

Goodman,
I believe that you are replacing the original windows and the 2 things you mention are;
1. a sticky gasket to hold the plexiglass/ glass in place and
2. A rubber seal to keep water out.

seal them in place...gaskets are hard to match...and a little leaks goes a long way to having ur wife insist selling that heap in favor of a chalet in altea spain.

What's the going price for a chalet in Altea Spain? (Just in case the leaks on the 74 Ranger get too bad.)
