PSS Shaft Seal Set Screws

Does anyone know the size of the set screws in the PSS shaft seal rotor? 1/4 X 20? Metric?

This is not the question you asked, and you may already be aware is the nuances of PSS shaft seal maintenance, but early on I wasn't and it created some a few minor problems.

First, make sure you use a set screw with a sharp point for the inner set screw -- and DON'T use any Loctite on the inner set screw. The point bites into the shaft and will be distorted the first time it's torqued down. (For that reason you can't re-use it.) Loctite can help with the outer set screw, but if used on the inner one it can smear across the shaft and lock it tight too. Makes it hard to get the seal collar off when you need to remove/move it.

Folks,

I contacted PYI and they provided the specs which are 1/4 X 20 with a length of 5/16" for a 1.25" diameter shaft.

I will head the warning about not putting thread locker on the inner screw.
