Need Info Swing Keel Replacement

Just hauled my Columbia 31 (Swing Keel) and the keel is pretty brittle. The mount point seems to be OK but how do you replace these. There is absolutelly no way to get to it uless you bore out the fixed keel portion and drive the mount pin out, and then replace the keel, reinsert the pin and glass it over again. Am I on the right track with this.

Before I tear into this I would like to find someone who has done this before. I am also looking for a keel pattern and weight. Looks like it's just a big piece of steel. The previous owner's lack of zincs did a number on it.

Any help would be appreciated,

Bones

Hi, welcome to Sailnet..

Hopefully a Columbia owner will weigh in here, but I suspect you're on the right track. Getting a flat plate fabricated for replacement will likely be the easy part!
