Alberg 37 Rudder

I have a 1982 Mk II Alberg 37 Yawl. The rudder is 'off center' as if it has slipped between the steering centre and the post. Or the stop is out off centre, but does not look off centre.

Question: Is the rudder post keyed to the Edson steering quadrant (the piece the cables attach to)?

The symptom is that the boat can steer harder to starboard than to port. This affects maneuvering in reverse the most.

the cables have long threaded bolts on the ends where they connect on the quadrant. The center moves according to how much you loosen one and tighten the other. That would also affect the amount of travel the rudder makes stop to stop when it is turned by the wheel. Messy, greasy, difficult to access on most boats, "been there done that!"
