Barient 22-39 Winch

I have two self tailing Barient 22-39 winches on my P30. I clean and lube them at least twice per year. One of them started acting up this summer. The best way to explain it is the winch is very difficult, sometimes impossible, to turn in the high speed low power direction when any load is put on it and in the low speed high power direction I can feel each meshing of a gear tooth. When I break it down to inspect it it appears that the pawls have improperly engaged a few times and material is removed.

Anyway, I am looking for a used winch for parts or to replace it. I know of the Australian Yacht Winch Company but would like find a used winch if possible.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Try eBay for a used winch.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Re: Barient 22-39 Winch

I know this is an old post, but it popped up when I was searching info for a Barient 22 - 39 winch. I am selling one for my father - it is new/unused. He came across it cleaning out his storage as he prepares to sell his boat. I don't know how long he has had it, but several years at least.

I am looking into pricing (& open to suggestion), but thought I would also update this post. It is 2 speed & self tailing, excellent condition:

I am the last poster and would be interested in your winch as I still have one looking for a mate. I am in California so let me know what you think
