Handy tip for storing 3M 5200, etc...
I've always had a problem with the remaining 5200, etc in the tube going dry before the next time I used it. I tried taping the end, plugging it with a screw, etc...all with the same results...dried 5200 in a tube.

Here's a trick I've since learned that works GREAT!!!:

Next time, leave a little bit of the 5200 out of the tube somewhere, doesn't take much, and after recapping the tube, put a good bead of 5200 around the cap of the tube and leave to dry in a safe place before putting the tube away. have to use pliers to remove the cap, but since it's an aluminum tube and a plastic removes just fine.

I just tried it on my first tube...left it for a two months, and after removing the cap...the 5200 was like brand-new underneath (and we're talking the Fast Cure stuff!!!). It works equally well with the small tubes and the cartridge tubes. I'm sure I'm not the only one who's had problems with dried adhesive in a tube.

Thanks. I will use this.

I am dangerous to be near when using a sika gun and anything sticky, let alone 5200

Great tip. I ran into this problem yesterday with a tube of latex caulk for the house. I hate throwing 90% of a tube away. Thanks for the tip.

Foil under the cap is a big help too.
