Resizing to Repurpose a furling sail

I have all of the necessary furling hardware, but unfortunately I do not currently have a furling headsail, and it's been just out of reach budget wise for the past 2 years.
I've recently come across a very affordable, and in good condition furling headsail for a Pearson 30.

When comparing the sail dimensions, it is close, but it will not fit exactly.

Pearson 30: I= 39, J = 12.67, P= 33.50
Catalina 27 TR I= 36, J= 12.2, P= 29.66

Would it be worth spending the money to have the sail re-cut to fit my smaller dimensions?

Im assuming a re-cut would cost significantly less than a new sail...

Thanks for any input.

Why not look for a used, good condition Catalina 27 TR sail instead. Also, since the Catalina 27 TR is a fairly common boat, the "off the shelf" sails for it aren't all that expensive. Might look into what the cost of a new on is.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

RichH will become famous soon enough
If your present sail is not a 'full luff' sail .... meaning the present sail's luff dimension is 'short enough' to allow the addition of the furling gear and if you have a 'decent' sewing machine ..... simply remove the existing luff 'bolt rope', etc. and install the proper 'continuous luff support tape' that will fit your intended furler. Note: each furler foil will require 'specific dimensions' of the continuous support tape. If you can sew this yourself .... cost will be ~$125.00.

Also, If you have a 'good' sewing machine you can also add a 'foam luff' to your existing sail to make REEFING possible.

Sunbrella Fabrics, Sailcloth, Canvas and Sail Hardware, Gill Foul Weather Gear and More! ----> 'continuous support tape', etc. in their 'search menu'.

If you have to cut the sail's luff dimension shorter, this will require a lot of additional work ... and then its usually cheaper to find a used sail that will 'fit' the 'new' dimensions.

;-)
