Argh....Head Issue

OK, probably a simple fix (I hope)

My pump handle on my standard marine toilet won't move up or down without a tremendous amount of force. I thinks something's blocked, creating pressure. I've opening the deck pump-out to see if that would relieve pressure...no go. I've also tried pumping to both the holding tank and pumping to the outside (nothing is in the holding tank), and I've cleaned the water strainer...no change. Any other ideas?

Yeh - Just had a similar problem in the Spring. The discharge was completely blocked wit calcium deposits. I had to replace all the hose from the bipass valve to the through hull. Have fun!

Is the flush lever fully over? If it is only partially in place pumping is very difficult.

I have the same problem when I try to dry the bowl. I have to hold the lever down to empty it. Could be the same problem with flushing. In my case, I just need to rebuild the flappers, etc. Normal maintenance every 5 years or so.

Could be a blockage on the inlet or outlet or the pump may just need lubrication. I used to use a Sealand cleaner/lubricant that made a big difference to how easily the pump worked. Then I replaced all with a Vacuflush system.

Thanks all. I'll continue to look for clogs, lubricate, and do some minor maintenance. The head is 7 years old...but it was working just dandy the day before it became almost impossible to move. ...hmmm
