Vestal Tide Watch

just ordered one of these:

here:
Vestal Shiv Watch | evo outlet

lists for 150, on sale for 59, less a 20% discount if you type 'moresnow' in the promo window (info readily available on the site).

looks like a neat little deal, as the traditional second hand is a tide indicator.
havent gotten it yet, just looked like a good deal and wanted to pass it on.

How does it know whether you have two high tides and two low every day, or just one?

On my Casio you set the longitude, GMT differential and the "Lunitidal interval" for your home port.

Actually I'm more interested in "how high" or even more importantly "how low" is the tide going to be, as not running aground is very importanmt to me and can really ruin my day.

Especially since he lists his location as North Texas What is the tidal range up there in North Texas anyway there Quinn Just kidding...... That watch looks like the wrist version of the wall model I used to have. The re-settable red hand is simply a differently geared hand that makes 1 revolution every 6+ hours ..... whatever the exact number is... I don't remember. The one I had specified that it was only good for the East Coast of the US which goes through 2 high/low cycles every 24+ whatever..... hours. I don't think it would display correctly on the West Coast as I believe your cycles are a bit off from that...... Texas maayyyybeee

Puget sound is in the 24-25 hr range for 2 high/low cycles. We do have a small high to low, then a BIG high to low, back to the small high/low.......

I have a phone with tide ranges, altho pretty useless for here in Wa st, only lists Westport Wa, ie on the coast! grrrrrrr

I have not figured out how to download any in Puget Sound as of yet!

I would think the best way to get tide ranges on a smartphone is to go to a website that gives tide ranges.

My garmn handheld (oregon) has multiple tide and current stations all over puget sound. I recently got a garmin e-trex for hiking, and found it also has local tide info. It was pretty cheep, goes forever on 2 aa bats and is waterproof. Just a thought if you can not find the info for your phone.
