Installing Vents for water Tanks

Would like to add vents for the water tanks in a Cat 36 MKII. OUr last boat had them (Oday 322) and they vented out through the hull below rub rail. Has anyone done this project on a boat and how was it done? Could it be vented to the inside of the boat? Any info appreciated
