Cape Horn self-steering -- does it have any flaws?

Hello,
we want to buy Cape Horn windvane, having little doubts about it's qualities, but it seems strange that there are virtually no negative comments regarding this device.
Do you have any bad experience with it (apart from the more involved measuring and installation process)? We are especially interested in the outboard models?
When the problems occured (in years or miles)?
Many thanks

The only thing I didn't like when I checked out the Cape Horn booth at the boat show was how the vanes mechanism takes up space internally in the lazerette (for an Alberg 30 anyway), and all the holes required for installation. I think they might make a model that has no "internal" parts, I am not sure.

As for performance, I hear they are the best. It felt and looked extremely solid in person. They are works of art either way.

You might consider posting your question over on the windvane forum at cruisenews.net

it is not a heavily visited forum but it has some dedicated followers who might be able to provide you with some insight.
