Plastic v aluminum ports

I want to replace two small fixed portlights with ones that open on my Pearson 28. Bowmar Lewmar and Bekson all have models that will work. Some have aluminium frames, some stainless, some plastic. So are any of these inadequate? My first thought is that since the whole boat is plastic, what does it matter? Also, I don't want stainless steel - just too much rust. I can't hold any of these in my hand, but have to order them so side by side evaluations are not possible. On some, the closing latches are merely glued to the edge of the acrylic lense. Is that a potential problem?
Any evaluations will be appreciated.
John

tommays will become famous soon enough
I was happy with the Beckson 5X12 ports i used to replace mine orginal PYHI which were also plastic and lasted a good 30 years

I could see some issues if your crossing and ocean but i think there fine for 99% of us on a budget

If a dirty bottom slows you down what do you think it does to your boat

our aluminum ones are 31 yrs young and going strong. why don't you check with that wholesale/consignment shop in Tx. and see what they have, or any ofthe others on line can save a bunch of jingle. you must have a TRITON. those are bronze i believe could be worth some swap money. boats are not made from plastic that is a slang frp is much stronger and expands and contracts much differently than plastic ie the plastic ports you are considering, especially if the boat is a Triton, because of the age
