webasto installation advice

Hey guys and gals, got my boat and my girlfriend (not one and the same) a webasto for the holidays. Anyone have any advice on easy mistakes to make with installs? I am thinking of putting a few perforations in the hose where it passes through hanging lockers... Is this a bad idea?

Thanks and happy holidays

Sounds like a diesel-fired central cabin heat. I'm guessing he wants to perforate the ducting to add some heat to the lockers... should work, depending on the type of hose/duct and how the holes are 'made'.... Wouldn't take much and you want to protect the flow to the main cabin areas too.

Webasto forced air heater evo top 5500. The hose I refer to is the air duct. I could foresee problems with holes in a hydronic system

Probably talking about heater, as he's mentioned perforating the hose, probably to heat the hanging lockers a bit.

Probably won't affect the installation significantly. However, you might consider running the hose to a piece of aluminum duct and then back to hose for the locker segments, so that you don't actually have to puncture the venting for the heater, but the aluminum duct would act as a small radiator when the heater was in operation, without really affecting the air pressure in the heater venting.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Uninsulated flexible Aluminum duct will warm the locker without holes. In fact holes would be nearly useless as these are not usually installed as pressure box systems.

jrd22 will become famous soon enough
I installed a Wallas forced air system and found that the duct hose does a good job of heating any space it goes thru without making any holes. Just leave the insulation off where it goes thru the locker. You won't have any air movement but it will warm and dry the space. I had to install a separate fuel suction tube in the tank, they do not advise tapping into the fuel line that supplies the engine because of the possibility of an air leak. Insulate all ducts, it is amazing how much heat loss there is without it. Keep the exhaust run as short as possible from the burner.
