Pearson 424 Mas tWedge

Does anyone know what size mast wedge to use on an ''81 424. I bought one from RigRite - 1/2 inch by 21/2 but it appears to be just a little thick. The deck collar isn''t as oval as the mast.. It''s (61/2 total)1 inch larger from side to side, so that will fit ok, but fore/aft its about a 1/4 inch too small.(should be 9 3/4) but is only 9 1/2. Is it suppose to be that tight?

I would never use mast wedges again after so many years of positive experience with Spartite. The kit is complete with everything you''ll need to do a professional job. I still use a mast boot to keep things dry in the cabin. I have taken the mast in and out of the boat for 7 years and the stuff keeps on ticking. No wedgies for me anymore!
