Islander 36- Is this my anchor well drain?

1 Attachment(s)
Greetings,
I have just purchased an islander with a nasty bilge and rusty keel bolts, I'm having bolts sistered in and am in the process of cleaning the funk out of the bilge. I want to verify that this is the anchor well drain. It is in the forward most bilge compartment closest to the bow. When I get close to it with a wire brush on my angle grinder it leaks out of this pipe. It's a 77 with the anchor well in front of the v birth.

Thanks for your input/ideas!!

Paul,

My C36 has a drain on the hull. If this turns out to be your anchor locker drain, maybe consider installing a drain directly through the hull and plug this one. It might involve changing the slope of the compartment, which might be more trouble than its worth.

By installing a hull drain to the outside you would eliminate the discharge into the bilge. I like to minimize what goes into my bilge. Just a thought.

Congrats on the boat.

Why not pour some water into your anchor locker and see if it comes out of the opening???

If I had to guess I'd say thats the drain from the shower in the head....looks an awful lot like my Catalina 30's bilge
