Sunbrella question

My old sunbrella canvas will absorb water and leak. I noticed water just sheds off of my new wheel cover. Is there some type of spray to put on the old sunbrella?

The 303 High-Tech Fabric Guard is actually what is recommended by the makers of sunbrella IIRC.

Should the sunbella be wash in a washing machine or hand scrub with brush ?

Some use Thompson's Deck Seal. Cheap but I have no personal experience.

That's a great way to ruin Sunbrella. 303 HTFG is the only product that should be used. Glen Raven has tested many products over many years and they only recommend one 303 High Tech Fabric Guard..

Thompson's will not ruin Sunbrella, but it will slightly darken the color. It brushes on and works very well. I personally use Ace Hardware's waterproofing liquid. It brushes on like Thompson's, but is even less costly.

This is the third bimini I've had on my boat during 26 years of ownership. I brushed Thompson's or Ace waterproofing on all. I replaced each previous bimini after about ten years due to chafe and wear, but not due to leaking or negative affects of the brush on sealer. Caution, the brush on sealers will damage the clear plastic,- no drips! Take care and joy, Aythya crew
