Replacing Engine Cover insulation Tartan 31

I have new insulation foam with adhesive on one side and foil on other to replace the original in the Tartan 31 engine cover. I'm having a hard time getting all the adhesive off the inside. All of the old insulation is off except for the remnants that stuck on. I want to remove all the old stuff as well as the trace of adhesive. Tried a little Goo Gone and Mineral Spirits, but it is pretty toxic with the shrink wrap still on. Any suggestions?

Have your tried a sharp, stiff scraper? Something with little flex as you really want be able to knock the remaining material off. A sander would likely get plugged up in a hurry....

If it's stuck that hard I'd just leave it and spray the new adhesive over it.

I just did this last year. I took off what I could and sprayed adhesive over the sruff that wouldnt come off and it has held up just fine. you should also have a few screws with washers on them that help hold the insulation in place. As long as you cut the insulation in big pieces the washers alone would hold it. the glue is just extra holding power in my opinion.
