Lifelines - need help

Hi Knothead,

I am not keen at dacron lifeline as a coleague presents (The Novel idea a couple of threads up), due to the fact of UV power potential in deterirating the line, plus the chafe factor over the lines, plus the elasticity issu of dacron. Advantage of this kind of dacron configuration could be that you are obliged to change your lifeline every 6 months.

However spectra lifelines will cover the elasticity issue. How can you cope with UV issue as well as the chafe factor?

There is always the option of using those plastic shroud covers. I would sure rather see those things used on synthetic lifelines than on wire shrouds. But with those and a little rigging tape one could protect the lifelines from chafe and uv as well as increasing the diameter to make them more comfortable.
