Datamarine parts

Does anyone know a source for Datamarine parts? I need the internal plug-in LCD units for the S100KL knotmeter and the S200DL depth meter. I have contacted DMI and am awaiting reply. Are there other sources? Anyone have contact info for Tom Calef who was said to have a stash of Datamarine parts?

I heard back from DMI and the news wasn't good. The replacement LCD modules for the S100KL and S200DL weren't available. To fix the instruments, they would have to be sent to DMI and, if it was possible, they would be modified to accept LCD modules that were avalable. The cost was estimated to be more than $200 ea. No thanks.

I found a S100KL on Ebay for $50 that was rough but had a OK LCD and I swapped out the part. One fixed.

I took apart the S200DL and found the problem wasn't the LCD but the polarizing filter fixed to the front. It had been damaged by 20+ yrs of salt and sunlight. Imagine. I found a source for linear polarized 8 mil film with adhesive backing and ordered a sheet. I cut off a small piece and stuck it on the LCD. Two fixed. I now have enough left over to fix maybe 19 more. If you need some, PM me and we can work something out.

Damn it's nice when something works out.

I'd like a piece of that polarizing film. My lcd screen is exactly the same way you described. I can see the numbers but I can't always make them ouy. Please get back to me with the particulars. Thank you, Michael

I believe you need 10 posts before you can send a PM. I have a Datamarine speed unit that looks like it would be helped by a piece also. So post a few more times and you can send me your address also!
