need Allmand 31 keel info

Does anyone know the composition of the keel?

Is it lead covered with fiberglass?

Is it one molded piece or is it bolted onto the hull?

Thanks for any info?

All the original brochure states is that it is internal ballast and glassed over to form a "double bottom". My guess is that it is not lead or they would have bragged about it.

Thanks Mitiempo. I did see that when I was researching.....not very informative, is it? You are probably correct....if it was lead, they would have bragged about it.

Re: need Allmand 31 keel info

I saw one in our yard that had a hole in the bottom with a lot of rust comming out.
It could easily be iron scrap imbedded in concrete.
