Jib sheet blocks

Hey all,

I am looking for new jib sheet blocks for my S2 7.3, my boat has an aluminum toe rail with holes all along the deck so I need something that I can easily attach/detach. I was thinking of trying the new Harken T2 loop blocks.
Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks a lot

how do you plan on adjusting the lead position?

You could use the loop block. just make sure the holes have rounded edges on the inside of the of the toe rail holes, most are not, if not you would be better off with a metal shackle

Yeah my toe rail has holes with rounded edges along the entire length. I was thinking of the Harken loop blocks because new blocks with snap shackles are over $100 a piece and the harken's are $32.

I replaced my jib lead blocks with garhauer, half the cost of the other options I looked at. They have owrked well.

they are a good price but a bit of a light load rating for a jib sheet on your boat. If you go with the 57 mm you should be ok

I think you're asking for trouble with the loop blocks. The toerail holes will eventually cut through the loops - at the worst possible time, of course. I got a pair of metal snatch blocks for my S2 8.5 from a second-hand marine store for $50. I would try something like that (or EBay) first.

Thats a good point about the toe rail cutting the loop. Never thought of that. Those garhauer blocks look great but I really need something with a snap shackle so they will be easy to move. Schaefer makes one with a built in snap shackle but there $125 bucks a piece.

They make those also, the least expensive on this page is OK for up to 30 ft boat according to their site (I have no affiliation). The nice thing about them is if you call they patch you through to the guy who makes that part, they are very helpfull as to proper sizing etc.

Minnewaska will become famous soon enough
Maybe an obvious answer to those more familiar with the S2, but are the toe rails designed for the load of a job block?
