ebay sailcover - anyone to avoid?

The decision has been penciled in to purchase a cover for my main from e-bay. After checking out the prices, they are comparable to purchasing a kit from Sail-rite for the most part.

Anyone have any vendors they would recommend avoiding?

I bought a sailcover from ebay last year for my folkboat. It ended up being an almost perfect fit, good quality materials, looked good, etc. I was very happy, and I think I payed around $150? If I remember when I get home from work I'll try and find a receipt or something so I can tell you who the vendor was.

If you go with the kit from Sail-rite, not only will you have a great cover, you will have made it and gained great skills.

Just my thought.

(Built a dodger, a binnacle cover and a sail cover this winter.)

I went with diegoscustommarine on ebay, looks and fits great. It is only 3-4 months old so I can not comment on long term durability.

I'm going with the boat-top-guy

His name is Geordie Magee of Magee Canvas.

I'm having a custom sail cover made. He's very helpful, knowledable, experienced.

paul

I ordered the material I needed to make a mail sail cover from sailrite last year. Not the kit just the material. It turned out great and was a custom fit to my boat/sail. I can't speak to the ebay seller but I can say that making your own is not difficult and is a great learning experience.

Thanks for the great responses folks. I've bookmarked the sellers and will be looking into them in the next couple of weeks.

I had considered making my own sailcover, but my schedule won't permit it at this time. Already have a sewing machine that is up to the task, and it will be getting more use as time goes by, just not this month (too much woodworking to do).
