removing raw water pump

I have a Perkins 4.108 which has developed a nice leak between the raw water pump (Jabsco 3270) and the engine. I planned to remove the pump and rebuild it, which is something new for me, but I can't get past step 1.....removing the pump.
The 4 smaller nuts holding the pump in place are rusted, corroded and located so close to the pump shaft, that I can't get a socket on them.

Has anyone had experience with this? Is there a trick to this? Or do you even need to remove the whole pump?

Maybe I'm alone in this but can you clarify if this is your engine mounted pump? Sounds like it is. If it is, I sympathize. I have an Oberdorfer pump on my Universal now but the old one was a Sherwood that caused problems.

You say "nuts", which makes me think there are bolt shafts coming out of your block. If so, you surely would not want to damage them.

You'll hear here about PB Blaster, which is great stuff that penetrates and loosens things. You can also, usually, apply heat with a propane torch to the outside of the nut, which both expands the nut but also causes cracking in the corrosion. If you can't get a socket on the nut, what about an open ended wrench? What about vice grips?

A photo would be enormously helpful to people here, as many have deep experience with frozen nuts and bolts and there are a variety of approaches depending on location and materials.

Need to check your oil, usually lrak into engine too.Would be very difficult to over haul on engine, ceramic seal is out.Be careful with pb blaster, wonderful product but will harm many rubber parts.marc

It's probably the shaft seal in the pump that failed. There are usually two - one on the water side and one on the engine oil side with a space between them. You are probably seeing the water leaking from the seal into that space. Doubt you can replace seals without removing the pump. Good luck.
