sneuman is on a distinguished road
forestay movement

I have twin forestays, left over from previous owners of the boat that liked the flexibility to switch headsails quickly. I notice that my 130% Genoa pulls its stay (I usually hank it on the starboard side) over a good 1-2". Is that normal, or is my rig tension too slack?

forestay movement

Actually, that is a very small amount of movement, expecially on a boat with twin stays were each stay takes a portion of the backstay tension but only one stay feels the side force of the jib.
