Can anyone identify this pedestal?

I would like to identify this pedestal to see if there are pedestal guards, etc, available so I could mount things like a plotter/fish finder. Hopefully we'll be getting the boat prepped in a few weeks, if no one can identify it by sight, maybe you can point me to areas where a manufacturer might be printed on it?

PS: The boy is learning to sail by senses other than sight.

PPS: I hate that traveler track.

Odds are it's an Edson; but I think the only logo on the Edson pedestals is a sticker, which is likely long gone. Perhaps inside under the compass there will be some identifiable number/name.

But as Joe indicates, Cinkel is another and I believe Merriman may have produced some pedestals as well.

It looks like a Yacht Specialties binacle but the picture is not close enough to tell for certain. Yacht Specialties had a marking on the pedistal base.

I adapted an Edson pedestal mounting ring-plate designed for Edson pedestal guards to a non-Edson pedestal and it worked out great.

Edson makes 2 versions, a 9 and a 12 inch diameter if i recall correctly. I was able to sandwich the Edson 3-ring (ala Mickeymouse sorta) stainless plate just under my OEM binnacle and compass and was then able to use an Edson ss tube guard with a Navpod electronics pod.

See these pictures. In my case, I had to have the Edson guard modified with two, what I call, "hangy-down arms" to give room for the helm dawg.

Good luck. (and nice work with the little one!)

Omatako will become famous soon enough
I believe normally Edson wheels are held on with a large nut that has their logo engraved on it. I know mine does.
