Wheel autopilot for Cape Dory 30 - looking for advise

Can anyone point me in direction of a good autopilot? I purchased recently a CD30 and I'm looking to upgrade her with some electronics. She is pretty basic.
I have read about Raymarine X-5 and ST60 wind combination and it looks reasonable, but I would like someone's opinion before I commit over 2k.
Is there a better (less expensive) solution?
Are there any possible problems with this combination on CD 30?
Are there any additional considerations before purchasing autopilot?

Any input will be greatly appreciated.

What are the typical conditions that it will be used in? The requirements for a pilot holding a course while motoring in calm conditions are substantially less than the requirements for a pilot used in heavy seas with an unbalanced rig.

I am planning to take her to Caribbean this winter for island hopping and some offshore cruising. Conditions will vary from calm to 30 knots winds and 10 feet waves.

I've just installed the X-5 (Already had the ST60 Wind) and the installation was very straight forward and easy. I sail on the Chesapeake bay and am just getting used to the functions and how to set it.

So, while I can't really comment on the functionality due to my limited experience, I can say installation was easy and the documentation with the device is easy to read/follow and learn from. I've had a ball for the last two times out!

I have a 34 ft Sabre
11,000 lbs dry.

The CPT is an option overkill maybe but it will do the job and is easy to fit.
