Replacing cracked swaged fitting

I have a swaged eye fitting that has a crack radiating out from the eye and was considering cutting it off and replacing it with a compression fitting (Hi-MOD + extender look attractive). I'm looking for experience with this product and thoughts/concerns with this approach. The frustrating part is that this is a relatively new fitting (std rigging replaced 6 months ago).

Access to the net is limited right now so feel free to reply with, "read this thread" or similar pointers that I can pickup and read later. I just don't have the time to search them out _today_ (tomorrow might be better - now only if someone could install reliable wifi in the St. Martin lagoon).

Many thanks!

I guess contacting who ever did the work 6 mos ago isn't an option? Of course I don't know if I would want them to do any more work for me. Looks like they may have screwed the job.

What about the rest of the rigging?

Talk to your rigger, 6 months is not long and this should be covered by your rigger.

Get the best rigger in St Maarten to decide for you. If he says make a complete new stay then bite the bullet and pay up.

Why? well you dont want this to happen.
