Yacht Specialtys push/pull steering cables

Hello everyone I am new to this forum so please excuse me if this topic has been posted before. I am looking for a replacement push/pull steering cable for a transom hung rudder Yacht Specialtys pedestal steering system. If any one has any leads on a potential fabricator that is capable of making one I would appreciate any info.
thanks
Tony

Not sure what you're asking. A cable can be obtained at any marine store. Are you talking about parts? We have had issues obtaining replacement parts since Yacht Specialities is no longer in business. We had to replace a throttle arm, and when it was all said and done, the throttle goes backwards (forward/reverse) due to incompatibily with original design and best we could find with Edson. We are now hauled out and refurbishing, and are considering complete replacement with Edson (pedestal, quadrant, pulleys, everything). Expensive, but then would be able to find parts down the road. That said, all's been working well with new cables, new throttle, and existing everything else.

yacht specialtys steering cable

I understand the confusion as the cable i need is a Morse type push/pull cable as opposed to a the regular chain to wire, quadrant setup on larger boats. I have a 1976 AMC Paceship PY23. The rudder is transom mounted and the cable attaches to the rudder almost like the cable for an outboard motor. I'm sure this was an after market mod as the boat does have the original tiller steering which I am currently using and will continue to use if I can't find any one to fabricate a replacement cable. Its not a necessity but would be fun to have wheel steering on a little boat (either way its still fun!) Thanks for your reply by the way and keep your eyes and ears open for any sources.

no one seems to have replacement cable for this pedestal I've tried Telleflex, Ultraflex and even a local fabricator here in Miami and all say they cannot make a cable with 8-10 inches of travel for steering. Seems to me that it should be fairly simple but I'm no engineer! The local fabricator stated they could make a max travel of 6 inches which may not be enough for tight manuevering while motoring to boet ramp. Opinons?

mitiempo will become famous soon enough
My opinion?
A wheel on a Paceship PY 23 is pretty strange.
