Sail cleanin' and hull patchin'

I'm not happy about this, at all. My brand new head sail was dripped on during its winter storage, and where the water apparently evaporated is now a light brown tinged stain, spread across a lot of the sail. Hoping it was just a tough dirt stain I gave it a shot this afternoon with my pressure washer, carefully, but the stain didn't budge. Can anybody help suggest a cleaner I should use for this mystery stain? I'd like to be careful not to use anything that'll do any kind of chemical damage to the material. The stain is only on the white parts, and the sail is brand new, so there shouldn't be any risk of 'making a clean spot.'

Also, I've got a couple very small holes on the front walk surfaces of my fiberglass hull, Hunter 27. Is there a particular brand or type of fiberglass patch that's any better than the others?

Thanks for your help

What does "Carefully" mean when you have a jet of pressurized water blasting at a sail? I would suggest a mild cleaner and a little effort. Pink Solution is very gentle and works great on Sunbrella, I would not hesitate to use it on my sails. Good luck, and leave the pressure washer at home.

Thanks SV. I understand what you're saying and I probably should have been more specific on that. The sail got only the same 'water pressure' as it would have as if I had been using say a common garden hose with a spray nozzle, flared out stream.

With regard to the second question, I assume you are talking about the non skid surface on the deck. There are a number of gelcoat repair products you can use. Evercoat Scratch Patch works for very small chips in white or off white surfaces. One of the kits with color pigments can be used to repair surfaces of other colors. If the non skid has a molded pattern, MAS Epoxy makes a product called FlexMold for repairs in wide variety of molded non skid surfaces.

To give a better idea of what this stain might be, I should have mentioned that the sail was stored in a garage that developed a leak sometime during the winter. The incoming water was rain and ice melt that dripped down over some old wood that's deteriorating badly.

I read an article on the sail repair/ cleaning a couple of years ago and tried a mild solution of laundry bleach in a bath of warm water. Worked so well on my badly discolored Genoa I did it again this spring.
Safe sailing
