New Main, What type of Sail Slugs?

I just purchased a new main. My mast has an external track, and I need a specific type of attachment for this setup but I'm not sure which (1st new main, the old one had holes instead of sliders). Could someone post a link to the type of slugs/attachments I need for this setup based on my image below (need to copy and a paste it into a browser. It's my first post so I can't post images).

thanks for any help!

mitiempo will become famous soon enough
Is that your old main in the picture? I would think you need the same type of slug on your new main as the old main had to fit the track. The sailmaker should have taken care of this.

Your sailmaker had to have been under the impression you had a different sailtrack. The ones you need for that track would be similar to the metal slide at your fingertip in the picture. As Brian stated above, the sailmaker should make good on this.... unless it's from an on-line loft where they rely on the information on the order sheet. Then it would be your responsibility to give them the correct data.

If it was a local, they should have come to the boat to have a look/measure/ and see what track was there. And they should make it right.

Is that the old slide on the mast and the new one that came with the sail? If so, get the sailmaker to change them. He should have asked what you had in advance.

Thanks for the responses. The sail was from Northsails and I purchased through someone so my options were limited. Yes, that is the old sail track attached to the mast with the existing slider cars. On another forum someone just suggested removing the plastic sliders on the new main and sew the nylon rings to the slider cars. I think I could get away with removing the plastic sliders and using the old attachments. They're like this but without the rubber anti-chafing stuff (again, can't link)

My only concern is chafing, I could purchase the ones in that pic or just make my own, thread them through like in the picture and save about $150. Any thoughts?

Your problem is that there are no small cringles in your 'new' sail connect the shackles through like the original.

You might be able to sew the old sliders on, but you may not have the tools to do so, so that gets you back to the sailmaker. However beyond changing the sail track I doubt you have any options. Hopefully you still have the old sail and sliders to salvage....

I'd suggest you take all this to any reputable local sailmaker and have them do a proper job.. the last thing you want is to have your main 'unzipper' itself the first time a good breeze comes along.

You can buy new ones from these guys:

External Slide 5/8" for use on Wooden Spars

Note there are two sizes. This one and 3/4. I would still recommend just taking it to a sailmaker and have them do it.

I would highly recommend dumping the high-friction external stainless slides entirely, and go with a Tides Marine Strong Track system, which we did on our HR-28. Failing that, have your sailmaker re-fit the sail with the external slides.
